"My own journey with UBE [previously UCEM] began exactly 5 years ago (June 2020) via their demonstrable commitment to Widening Participation 'WP'. As the #1 provider of chartered surveyor degree apprenticeships, I was invited (during the COVID lockdown) to discuss, debate and help shape what has since become a strategic pillar, to their previous, current and future success, of this wonderful institution. Officially recognised as the first man of 'Black' origin, to receive an Honorary Degree, my own allegiance to the Executive Team, led by Ashley Wheaton & Jane Fawkes has morphed into a world leading Mentoring Initiative, designed, curated and administered by Surveyors, for surveyors. Huge thank you to Karen Ching for leading on this hugely successful initiative, now in its fourth (4th) year of delivery." _ Dr Bola Abisogun OBE

In recognition of the steadfast support and commitment, with realised, tangible and measurable gains, the award of an Honorary Degree followed, two (2) years later in December 2023 ......

Now some four years later, we are gearing up to support (UCEM as) the University of the Built Environment in their next and new chapter of global influence and sustainable growth across the built environment ...........

Great to finally meet a Lionhearted legend, Peter McCrae OBE, Chair of UBE .........

No evening could pass without a selfie with Building People Family, Marsha Ramroop and Rebecca Lovelace, my Deputy Champion and Vice Chair of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, at the Construction Industry Council; as we celebrate our recent and joint (re)appointment until June 2028!

"The goal is simple – to boost their careers through tangible skill building, and ensure that a rising generation of diverse voices within the built environment will have the skills and expertise necessary to excel in framework opportunities to win new work. The pilot is not just about transforming the careers of its individual participants, but seeks to dismantle serious barriers that are holding back under-represented practices." _ Construction Industry Council referring to the Good Growth in Practice [Mentoring Initiative] administered by the London School of Architecture, now part of UBE

With the emergence of Digital Construction and specifically #AI into the Surveying profession, the team at UBE are keen to engage with industry partners (and practitioners) to maintain a cutting edge perspective on industry needs and demand led skillsets. Interesting conversations continue apace with a focus on 'emerging roles' and a more representative workforce for the built environment; thank you Martin, Priti and Stephen!!

And, an extensive photo gallery can be found here, via the link below _ well done UBE!
